FINRA Symbology Announcement
|
March 8, 2010
The Financial Industry Regulatory AuthorityTM (FINRATM) is responsible for assigning symbols for OTC Bulletin BoardTM (OTCBBTM) and other over-the-counter equity securities. While other self-regulatory organizations are currently considering different symbology
and symbol suffix changes, at this time FINRA has no plans to change its symbology and will continue to issue four and five-character symbols according to its current methodology. Should FINRA make a change to its symbology in the future, it will work
with NASDAQ OMX to notify UTP Level 1 subscribers. Please note that FINRA coordinates symbol assignments through the Intermarket Symbols Reservation Authority (ISRA), to insure that there is no duplicate symbol assignment within the U.S. equities market.

An OTC equity security generally is any equity that is not listed or traded on NASDAQ or a national securities exchange.
